NVIDIA Unveils Groundbreaking AI Platform at CES 2026: Rubin and Alpamayo Set to Revolutionize Industry

NVIDIA has unveiled its groundbreaking AI platform, Rubin, at CES 2026, along with Alpamayo, an open reasoning model family for autonomous vehicle development. With these announcements, NVIDIA is pushing the boundaries of what is possible in AI, promising to accelerate innovation and make it more accessible to industries worldwide.

  • NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang declared that AI is scaling into every domain and device at CES 2026.
  • NVIDIA's Rubin platform promises to "push AI to the next frontier" with reduced costs.
  • The Rubin platform consists of six chips designed together for extreme code optimization.
  • AI-native storage, Inference Context Memory Storage Platform, is introduced to boost performance and efficiency.
  • NVIDIA introduces Alpamayo, an open reasoning model family for autonomous vehicle development.
  • DRIVE Hyperion, a modular level-4-ready platform, gains momentum with leading automakers and suppliers.

  • Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, kicked off the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with a bold statement that AI is scaling into every domain and every device. This declaration sets the tone for NVIDIA's latest announcements, which promise to revolutionize the way we approach artificial intelligence.

At the center of NVIDIA's CES push is Rubin, the company's first extreme-codesigned, six-chip AI platform now in full production. Building on the success of previous platforms, Rubin promises to "push AI to the next frontier" while slashing the cost of generating tokens by roughly one-tenth that of its predecessor. This significant reduction in cost will make large-scale AI far more economical to deploy, paving the way for widespread adoption across industries.

The Rubin platform is built from the data center outward, comprising components such as Rubin GPUs with 50 petaflops of NVFP4 inference, Vera CPUs engineered for data movement and agentic processing, NVLink 6 scale-up networking, Spectrum-X Ethernet Photonics scale-out networking, ConnectX-9 SuperNICs, and BlueField-4 DPUs. The extreme codesign of these components is essential for scaling AI to gigascale, eliminating bottlenecks, and dramatically reducing costs.

To further accelerate AI innovation, NVIDIA has introduced AI-native storage with the Inference Context Memory Storage Platform. This AI-native KV-cache tier boosts long-context inference by 5x higher tokens per second, 5x better performance per TCO dollar, and 5x better power efficiency. With Rubin and this new storage solution, developers can train AI models faster, deploying them to market more quickly.

NVIDIA's push for open models is also gaining momentum, with the introduction of Alpamayo, an open reasoning model family for autonomous vehicle development. Part of a sweeping effort to bring AI into every domain, Alpamayo includes AlpaSim, a fully open simulation blueprint for high-fidelity AV testing. The first passenger car featuring Alpamayo built on NVIDIA DRIVE full-stack autonomous vehicle platform is set to hit the roads soon in the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA.

The growth of momentum behind DRIVE Hyperion, the open, modular, level-4-ready platform adopted by leading automakers, suppliers, and robotaxi providers worldwide, was also highlighted. As AI becomes increasingly ubiquitous, NVIDIA's technologies for training, inference, and edge computing are grounding AI in the physical world.

In a bold statement, Huang emphasized that every single six months, a new model is emerging, and these models are getting smarter and smarter. This exponential growth in AI capabilities has exploded the number of downloads, underscoring the immense potential of NVIDIA's open models across every domain.

As the industry moves forward with AI, NVIDIA's commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible remains unwavering. With Rubin, Alpamayo, and a comprehensive suite of tools and technologies, NVIDIA is poised to revolutionize the way we approach artificial intelligence, making it more accessible, affordable, and powerful than ever before.
